Yesterday, The A.C.E. Bus rumbled into the Holy Redeemer parking lot, welcomed by enthusiastic students. An old friend of HR, Fr. Lou, brought the A.C.E. Bus to Holy Redeemer all the way from the University of Notre Dame. A.C.E., which stands for Alliance for Catholic Education, has been traveling to Catholic schools around the country to celebrate Catholic education. Their stop in Portland marked the 49th city they have hit on their 50 city tour.
After greeting the bus, an assembly followed featuring student speeches, performances from the school orchestra and choir, and an award given to Monsignor Tim Murphy. However, the energy in the room really picked up when Fr. John announced the official Jog-A-Thon results. The kids came back from an early deficit to defeat Fr. John and exceed their goal, earning a day off of school on Friday May 23!
It was a fun morning and an important reminder of the impact of a Catholic education.
